DANIELLE LERNER
Sports Reporter | Stadium Soft Pretzel Connoisseur
Welcome and thanks for checking out my site. I'm a sports writer from San Jose, California who is currently transplanted in the Midwest. I graduate from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May 2016 and am in search of my next adventure. I'd love to chat with you about journalism, sports, or why In-N-Out Burger is the best burger chain. In the meantime, please have a look around!
I’ve sat through 16 inning softball games, shadowed a volleyball player in her last week of collegiate eligibility and written about a college basketball coach’s past as a Christian rapper. I’ve interned for former San Francisco Chronicle Oakland A's beat writer Steve Kettmann editing the work of sports writing legends T.J. Quinn and Bonnie Ford. This past summer, I convinced some Brits across the pond to trust me to write about Premier League soccer.

ABOUT ME
As a kid, I always had a fascination with both sports and writing, and by the age of 10 had decided on journalism as a career, a path I haven’t strayed from since. Growing up in a family that merged Bay Area fandom with Boston fandom, I don’t think I really ever had a chance at loving anything else. I hope to continue my journey as a sports beat writer for a major newspaper covering the people behind the sports.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I pride myself on finding remarkable, relatable stories, and can sniff out those stories no matter the subject. Sports writing has taught me how to handle breaking news, how to quickly form relationships with subjects and how to ask questions in tough, emotional situations. As a result, I have complete confidence that I can handle whatever gets thrown my way in the newsroom.
